2013 Platform for City of Cold Lake Councillor

Three years ago I decided to run for council with ambitions of making a difference for Cold Lakers.  Over the past 3 years I feel I have made a positive difference.  I have also learned that change and making a difference takes time. This is why I would like to ask for your support for the next 4 years.
I was born and raised in Cold Lake.  I am a teacher at Cold Lake High School.  I am an active volunteer through out the Community.  I feel this a very integral part of my connection to Cold Lake.   Cold Lake has seen many changes over the years and I feel I can make a positive contribution to the development and growth of the City. I will do this by:

  • Listening to the citizens of Cold Lake to find out what they would like as priorities.  I will be accountable to the public.
  • I am against any work camps in the City Limits of Cold Lake.  I feel the Province should provide lease space for these Camps.  We are not in a position to deal with work camps.
  • I will be committed to making infrastructure a priority to ensure the older parts of the city continue to be upgraded
  • I want Cold Lake to be part of the water solution. I want Cold Lake to remain on of the most pristine lakes in North America
  • I will continue to lobby the Alberta Government to ensure the Air Weapons Range deal is upheld and continues to help prepare Cold Lake for the increase population, which comes with Oil Expansions.
  • If you like what I have highlighted as my vision for Cold Lake then I would like your support for the next 4 years.  I am confident in the direction I see our City growing and I would love to be part of the Council that leads the growth.  Thank you very much for your time.

Cold Lake Air Weapons Range Comes to City of Cold Lake

After a long struggle, the City of Cold Lake will get the Municipal tax assessment from the AWR.  This is a big win for the City.  We can expect around 12 million dollars a year starting 2012 January.  This will grow every year for 5 years.  It is predicted that Cold Lake may get 17 million in a few short years.  This is a big day for City of Cold Lake.

Songs for Tsunami fundraiser

I have started a fundraiser and emotional support awareness for the People of Japan.  Our family has had many people want to help out so I decided to start a Karaoke fundraiser  at our Cold Lake High School.  Students sponsor a teacher to sing a song.  The students pick the song and the teachers sing.  Our schools Japanese 10 class is helping out with the event.  We are placing pictures and video on YouTube under Cold Lake High School.    We are running the fundraiser over 4 weeks, every Thursday at noon.  Our first Thursday was a huge success.  Great work CLHS

City of Cold Lake VS Cold Lake Minor Hockey (Cold Lake WInter Classic)

On Feb 28th the City played Cold Lake Minor Hockey Coaches and Executives.   The game was used as a fund raiser for the local families who were in major car accidents traveling to games this winter.  The game was also used to show case the Nelson Heights Outdoor rink which has been managed more effectively by the Recreation Department.

The weather was cool but the hearts of players were warm, and so was the hot chocolate.  Thanks to all the organizers who helped put this Winter Classic together.  It reminds me of my old days growing up in Minor Hockey, when we had to shovel the snow before we played.

Business of the Year a huge success

On February the 26th Miyuki and myself attended the Business of the Year Award at the Energy Centre.  It was well attended and well organized.  Chris Gill and Willow Marr were the MC's.  The Chamber of Commerce did a great job and looked after every detail.
